Melvin C. Woodgeard, Jr., age 64 of Dayton, passed away June 16, 2012. He was born May 26, 1948 in El Cajon, California to the late Melvin C. and Pauline A. Woodgeard.
Melvin is survived by his children: Melinda (Paul) Kimmel, Melvin Daniel Woodgeard and Lillian "Lily" (Samuel) Gore; 4 grandchildren: Kayne, Isabella, Colton and Rorie; 2 sisters: Melvina (Ron) VanMeter and Sharon (Dennis) Goecke; 3 brothers: Clayton (Janice) Woodgeard, Timothy (Linda) Woodgeard and David (Tina) Woodgeard; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Melvin retired from the Kroger Company after more than 35 years of service and was a former employee with Pizza Hut and Edy's. He was a dedicated Christian and attended Living Word Church. Melvin was a loving father and devoted grandfather. He had a way of touching the lives of others around him. He was a die hard Bengals fan and is still rooting for a winning season!
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday. Pastor Harold Ady officiating. Burial to follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made in Melvin's memory to the American Cancer Society.
