Melodee Ann Elrod Chace, The Angel of Mercy came to escort Melodee Ann Chace to heaven on Friday, April 13, 2012. She was born May 9, 1960, in Oklahoma City (OKC), Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Newel Elrod, and Carol (Elrod) Lovett. Her stepfather, Clifford Lovett, also preceded her in death. Her grandparents were Herman and Edna Scroggy of Xenia. She was a graduate of Northwest Classen High School in OKC. Her administrative career included the Department of Corrections (OKC), Department of Human Services (Buffalo, MN), Datalytics Inc (Dayton), and Ohio Electronic Engravers (Beavercreek).
She was a member of VFW Post 8437 Ladies Auxiliary in Enon and attended Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Xenia. She loved her family and was a principal confidant for her grandchildren. Melodee was a classy lady who always dressed in style, was fond of music, and was an avid reader. She was strong and persevered in her battle with cancer.
Melodee's surviving family includes two sons: Trey (Rachel) – with children Nevaeh, Skylar, Emily, Madison, Kirsten, and great grandchild Kolin; Joshua (Shawna) – with children Ethan, Isabella, and Hunter: and a daughter Kimra Chace (Dale Petry) with son Dale Petry III: and her former husband Thomas Chace. Others include brother Wayne Elrod, sister Joyce Elrod (Pam Cowan), niece Penny and Great Niece Ashley Woods: step brothers Clifford (Sue) Lovett, Sam, Joe, and Ed (Mary) Lovett; and step sister Vicki (Carlos) Gracian.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420. A private family celebration is planned.
