Mearl Calhoun

Mearl Calhoun, age 76, of Dayton, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 14, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Gayle Calhoun; her son Albert Calhoun; parents, Floyd and Belvie Begley; siblings, Thelma Woods, Eula Combs, Ollie Begley and Jacqueline Baker. Mearl is survived by her son, Larry (Marcia) Calhoun; grandchildren, Joshua, James and Philip Calhoun, Sarah Cansler and their families; sisters, Blanche (Walter) Broyles, Rowena (George) Walker, Lillie (Larry) Henry; brothers, Luke (Fran) Begley, Glen Begley; and many other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Mearl's caregivers at Good Samaritan Hospital, Maria Joseph Living Care Center and to her niece Carrie. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424). Services will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home, with George Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Hope Lutheran Church Food Pantry (2000 Catalpa Drive, Dayton, OH 45406) in Mearl's memory. She will be missed by her friends and family.
