Mcdouglas Cooper Sr.

December 12, 1930 — September 30, 2021

McDouglas "Mac" Cooper, Sr. was born to Mitchell and Virgie Cooper on December 12, 1930, in Oxford, NC. He spent much of his early years on the family tobacco farm. He attended Joe Toler High School before he enlisted and served in the Korean war, where he was stationed in Japan and later Korea. When he returned home from active duty, he worked as a school bus driver and eventually a semi-truck driver. He would later retire as a truck driver after nearly forty years. On June 22, 1957, McDouglas married Louise King. The couple enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage until her passing on July 1, 2018. Together, they raised a family of four children. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an amazing grandfather.

McDouglas was known for his magnetic personality, his strong work ethic, and his unyielding integrity. He was loving and generous, often volunteering to help out those in need. These character traits, and many others, made him a role model to the young men who followed behind him.

McDouglas will be remembered for his virtuous spirit, his loving generosity, and his dedication to Christ. After moving to Dayton, OH with his wife and their two youngest children, he found a church family in Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. It was here where he would be ordained as a deacon. After he retired as a truck driver, McDouglas's passion for service led him to serve proudly as the church's janitor for many years.

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, God called McDouglas home to be with Him in heaven. Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Debra Cooper and Michelle Cooper; one son, McDouglas Cooper, Jr.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. . He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; one daughter, Cheryl Cooper-Caster; one son, Bernard Bagby; two sisters, Dora Yancey and Louise Reed; four brothers, Mitchell Cooper Jr., Woodson Cooper, LeRoy Cooper, and Frank Cooper.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church 301 Mia Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45417. Burial will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville, OH.
