We are here today to celebrate the life of Maynard Lamar Nelson Jr.
Maynard, age 74, of Xenia, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday July 13th 2021. He was born on May 19, 1947 in Washington Court House, Ohio. The eldest of six children of Maynard and Margaret Nelson (Johnson). He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Marlin and Michael Nelson and sister Madeline Nelson.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gladys and two sons: Maynard lll of Xenia, Ohio and Brent Egleston of Xenia, Ohio. Step children: Lorrisa, Mike, Nick and Matt of Xenia, Ohio. Two sisters: Marsha Nelson Brown (Gary) of Toledo, Ohio and Melanie Nelson of Jamestown, Ohio. Grandchildren: Malayna of Xenia, Ohio, Jasmine, Dominic and Dayton of Newark, Ohio, Sophia and Gabby of Xenia Ohio, Shannon, Eric and Donnie of Xenia, Ohio. Special consideration: Jessica and sons Brian and Jaden of Huber Heights. Special nephews: Michael Nelson of Kansas and William Burrell of Oregon. Special friends: John and Anita Chaney of Jamestown, Ohio.
Maynard graduated from Greenview High School the class of 1967. He retired from American Builders and Airborne. Maynard was a true lover of cars and car shows. In his younger years he was an artist and bodybuilder. He will be remembered for his kindness and caring of others, as one of his classmates quoted "the end of an era" in other words, a legend. Maynard never met a stranger and if you talked about cars you had a friend for life. Maynard will be missed by many and forever in our hearts, fly high.
Services for the celebration of life for Maynard Lamar Nelson Jr. will be held on July 31st 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church 44 East Washington Street Jamestown, Ohio 45335.
