Maxine Louise Rhoads

Maxine L. Rhoads, age 83 of Dayton, Ohio went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2024. She was born December 5, 1940 in Cleveland, Tennessee, daughter of the late Andrew and Syblee Wells.

Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed numerous church activities, and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Maxine loved bowling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.   

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Clarence, and Billy Wells; sister, Virginia Adams; niece, Victoria Miller; and brother- in - law, Millard Allen.  

Maxine is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Rhoads; daughters, Karen Abney and Krista (Bo) Compton; granddaughters, Jami (Carl) Holbrook and Kaiden Compton; sisters, Mary Allen, Olivia  (Tony) Wright, and Revenia Brown; brothers, Eugene (Lillie) Wells and Butch (Betty Jo) Wells; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Deanna Augaitis as well as numerous other family members and lifelong friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 1:30pm with Pastor Delmar Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Willow View Cemetery.
