Maxine Perry
Was born May 26, 1919, in Amber, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Amos H and Estella A (Lynch) Hively. She was raised in Elkview West Virginia and graduated from Elkview High School where she was a choir member and football cheerleader. She sang in the choir at Elkview Baptist Church and during her senior year she sang gospel on a weekly radio station out of Charleston, West Virginia.

In 1938 she married Frank W Shew of Great Bend, NY. This marriage ended in divorce. She later married Wilford Perry of Great Bend in 1969. She made her home in Northern NY most of her married life, where she was an active member of her church, prominent Girl Scout leader, a popular soloist for, her church, Eastern Star, grange and wedding events. As a member of the Carthage Little Theater she starred in the productions of Showboat and Music Man.

She retired from Robinson's Bookstore in Watertown NY in 1981 where she had been employed as the book buyer. Previously she had worked as a nurse's aid in her family's nursing home, a salad chef at Morgia's Family Restaurant, a production worker at Crown Zellerback paper mill and after her retirement she worked in several daycare facilities in the Rochester area.

She has spent the last 12 years sharing her life with her son and daughter-in- law Robert and Shelba Shew in Carthage NY and her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Morin in Huber Heights, Ohio.

At the time of her death she was a member of Troy Baptist Temple in Troy Ohio, but in the past had been an active member of Watertown Baptist Temple in Watertown NY.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law Robert C and Shelba M Shew of
Carthage, NY; her daughter and son in law Linda A (Shew) and Richard E Morin of Huber Heights Ohio; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. A daughter Debra L Shew, her husbands, her brother Oriville H Hively and her parents predeceased her.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday at the funeral Home. Pastor Rick Arrowood will officiate. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. If friends desire contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
