Max L.REEDER, age 84, of Centerville, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Dayton VA Hospital. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War at the Chosin Reservoir. Max was a member of the Chosin Few. He served as Police Chief of Mad River Township. Max retired after many years of service with DP&L and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Reeder & Mary Jane Binkley; brother, Hugh Reeder; and daughter, Mary Linda Heider-Reeder.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anubis Reeder; sons, Stephen "Steve" (Vickie) Reeder of Kettering, Ohio, Jon E. Reeder of Centerville, Ohio and Scott W. (Melissa) Reeder of Camden, Ohio; daughters, Robin A. (John) Norris of Bellbrook, Ohio, Kimberly L. (Jacque Hayes) Reeder of Portage, Michigan and Kathryn A. (Jim) Routzhon of Beavercreek, Ohio; grandchildren, Stuart and Jonas Hughes of Florida, Stephen M. (Marcia) Reeder of Kettering, Ohio, John Paul Norris II of Bellbrook, Ohio, Max Lee Reeder-Hayes of Portage, Michigan, Jacob Routzhon of Beavercreek, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Zoe Reeder and Zach M. Reeder; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 3-5:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). Inurnment will take place at a later date at David's Cemetery. The service will follow at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
