Maury "Bill" Williams Jr., age 88, of Beavercreek, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 11, 2011.
Bill was a gentle, loving husband, father, and brother who adored his Susie, children, and grandchildren.
He was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Memphis to the late Maury T. Williams Sr. & "Sweetie Pete" Quick.
Bill was a combat veteran with the 3rd Marine Div. and was injured at Iwo Jima during WWII. He was a 25-year Air Force civilian at WPAFB.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Robin Hudson. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sue Williams; children, Terri Butler and Maury T. Williams III & his wife Teresa; grandchildren, Danny, Jennifer, Mark, Erin, and Shannon; and many other relatives and friends.
Maury was an award-winning artist known throughout the Midwest and the South for his beautiful still life oil paintings, his ornate trees, wildlife and pet portraits.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 1-2 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Skip Collins officiating.
Burial will take place at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, where military honors will be performed.
