Maurice Rankins Sr.

Maurice S. Rankins Sr., 51, passed away very unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. He was born November 13, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Maurice graduated from Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio in 1986. He enrolled in Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. and graduated in 1990 with the Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications.

Unquestionably, the conscientious, distinguished and honest character of Maurice prepared him for his employment at several Job Corps locations and as a Senior Safety Regional Risk Manager with American Racing and Entertainment Company in Nicholas, NY. Along with his great work ethic and a love for his job and people, Maurice spent much of his time off as an AAU and High School coach. He coached football and boys and girls basketball, and also was a personal trainer to many community youths. Maurice had a love for all sports and enjoyed coaching over the years, as he continued to build great rapport with all of the community children and their families.

On December 4, 1999, in Dayton, Ohio Maurice married the love of his life Chelsea D. (Hargrave) Rankins. He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Chelsea; three sons, Andrew, Jaden, and Maurice Jr., his mother Alice Rankins and father Raymond Chatman; brother, James Rankins, sister, Kiona, sisters-in-law, Tracey Fleming (Sean Collins); Crystal Rankins (Myron); brother-in-law Sean Hargrave (Jennifer); aunt, Gladys Jackson and uncle Jesse Washington of Cleveland, OH; uncle Myron Rankins Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Newcomer North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424). A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
