Johnson, Mattie L., 79, of Riverside, passed away February 28, 2017.
She was born December 18, 1937 in Robinette, WV to the late Herbert and Emma (Adkins) Mangus. She worked for the McCall Corp. from 1956 until 1971 and went on to a child care career for many years. Mattie received her teaching certificate from Free Will Baptist Bible College and taught Sunday School for 25 years at the New Carlisle Free Will Baptist Church.
Mattie always had a smile and would light up a room. She had a good sense of humor and enjoyed joking with others.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Elden W. Johnson, siblings, Ralph, Ted, Jennings, Howard, and Jack Mangus, Ruth Costas and Emma Faye Dotson.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Tammy) Johnson of Wilmington, OH, Jennifer (Greg) Hudson of Riverside, OH, Angela Johnson of Huber Heights, OH; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Etz of Dayton, OH; brothers, John Mangus of Salesville, OH Herbert Mangus of Cleveland, OH, Bobby Joe Mangus of Columbus, OH, Charles "P.G." Mangus of Columbus, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until 11:00am Friday March 3, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home 4104 Needmore Rd., where funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Burial at New Carlisle Cemetery.
