Matthew Shawn Edward Lee Everetts

Matthew Shawn Edward Lee Everetts, age 43 of Dayton, gained his wings on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. He was born January 29, 1981 in Kettering, Ohio the son of Robert “Butch” and Cindy Everetts-Lawson.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sarah (Courtney) Kuhns; maternal grandparents, Ellison (Frances) Everetts; maternal great-grandparents, Bertha (Ed) Courtney and paternal grandparents, Robert (Reatha) Lawson.

Matt is survived by his beloved parents, Robert “Butch” and Cindy Everetts-Lawson.  His three children, Taylor Everetts, Katlynn Everetts, and Derek Everetts including their children, Kinnedy, Cain, Luka will forever hold a scared place in his heart. Matt's life will continue to be celebrated by his sweetheart, Dana Stubbs. Matt was a special father to Nicholas (Alexis) Smith, Michael Shelton, Isabella Chace (Taylor North), Mikayla Bosier, Gianna Bagley, and Lorenzo Stubbs and is a proud grandfather to Dominick, Aubreonna, Adrian, Michael, Alya, and Zoey. He is also survived by three brothers, Dustin Norvell (Stephanie Cox), Robert “BJ” Lawson Jr. (Maria Rose), Justin Lawson (Savannah Rudy); sister, Amanda Hill (Justin Moore); two adored aunts, Vicki Everetts (Jack Shelton) and Denise Wren; nephews and nieces, Dustin Norvell Jr., Payton Lawson, Brayden Lawson, Zachary Lawson, Levi Hickman, Layla Lawson, Harley Lawson, Sarah Lawson, and Carson Lawson. Matt leaves behind a great number of other family and friends, including Cynthia Shelton to cherish his memory forever.

Matt graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1997 and later went on to work as a plumber. He was an avid Karaoke singer at Chris’s Band Box, Connell's Bar and the Glass Hat. He enjoyed canoeing, cooking, political debates, cliff diving, video games, and he will always be remembered for “giving the claw”. The most important thing to Matt was family and spending quality time with them. Every room he walked into was always made brighter with his smile and his laugh. Matt is WELL LOVED and will be DEEPLY MISSED! His memory will live on with his children and his grandchildren.  

A gathering with family and close friends will be held from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 8 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where a public service will then begin at 5:00 pm.
