SMITH, Marybeth age 78 of Kettering, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Walnut Creek Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her father Myron Pape and her mother Margaret (Styer) Ray. She is survived by Walter E. Smith, her loving husband for 60 years, her sons Walter E. II and wife Anne Smith of Miamisburg and Daniel A. Smith of Volant, PA, her daughters Kathleen G. Newton of Kettering, Melanie A. and husband Tom Phipps of Bellbrook; grandchildren Christy and husband Scott Purdin, Zack and wife Debbie Smith, Daniel Smith II, Joshua Smith, Randy and wife Lauren Smith, Michael Guenther, Sean Phipps, Drew Phipps and Melissa Johnson; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and a host of other relatives and friends. Marybeth retired from Rikes/Lazarus after 24 years of service. She was past president of the Rikes retirees (the 20 year club). She was a member of Zion Memorial United Church of Christ for over 40 years where she was on the Consistory Board; she was past president of the Woman's Fellowship and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Historical Society in Springboro and a Girl Scout leader. Funeral services will 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 11. 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering.
