Mary L. Turley, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, in Kettering, Ohio. Born on May 25, 1937, in Jamestown, Ohio, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Mary's professional career was spent at Miami Valley Hospital, where she worked diligently at the front desk for many years before retiring at the age of 72. Her commitment to her work exemplified her strong work ethic and her desire to serve others.
Education was important to Mary; she earned a graduate equivalence degree, which reflected her determination and desire for personal growth. Throughout her life, she remained a source of inspiration to her family, particularly in the way she engaged with them during the holidays, ensuring that everyone felt special and included in the celebrations.
Known for her loving and kind demeanor, Mary was always the person who offered a smile and a helping hand. Friends and family alike found comfort in her presence, often leaving their interactions feeling uplifted and better after spending time with her. She had a rather active lifestyle, enjoyed window shopping, and loved playing scrabble, but perhaps her greatest joy came from traveling and exploring new places.
Mary's qualities of kindness and resilience reflected her character; she never gave up, no matter the challenges she faced. Her children and family were undoubtedly her proudest accomplishments, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them throughout their lives.
Mary is survived by her loving family: her son, Charles Leslie and his wife Jo Leslie; daughters, Lisa Keller and her fiancé Craig Heintz, Karen Swangim and her husband Keith, and Barbi Richards and her husband Michael. She leaves behind numerous grandchildren, including Darrell, Joshua, Dawn, Joey, Robbie Sr., Tara, Jessie, Jayson, Shawn, Bobby, Eric, Brandon, Amber, Ashley, Teresa, Traci, Gabriel, Savannah, Luke, Meghan, Christina, Katie, Shyanne, Kelli, Cody, Mary, and Kyle, along with great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Truman and Ethel Duzan; her daughter, Tina Wardon; her brothers, Everette Truman, Willard Truman, Wilbur Truman, and Ernie Allen; her sister, Jenny Sizemore; and her great grandson, Robbie Jr.
Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will endure through the many lives she touched. Mary L. Turley will forever be remembered as a remarkable woman who made the world a brighter place with her presence.
Funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Visitation will begin prior to service at 10 AM. Mary will be laid to rest at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens.
