Mary Saloom, age 88 of Centerville, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at Kettering . She was born January 20, 1934 in Bludan, Syria, the daughter of the late Asaad Dehabey and Nedee Koubaji.
Mary was a very religious woman and was a faithful member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church for 40+ years. She was an exceptional cook, outstanding baker, and always made sure to feed everyone around her before herself. She was known for her famous phrase: "eat, eat, eat!!" She will be remembered for her angelic singing voice, along with her loving and caring nature. Mary was very protective of her family. She had an undying love for her husband, children, and grandchildren, and took great pride in her family. She was a selfless, strong, affectionate, gentle soul and everyone who met her fell in love with her. She was a warrior who fought to the very end and is now resting in the arms of the Lord.
Mary is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Ameen George Saloom; children, Nadia Saloom, Joseph (Heather) Saloom, and Laurice (Jason) Hodgson; grandchildren, Celena, Ashley, Grace, Faith, Julia, Nicholas, Avery; great grandson, Cason; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Halim, Khalil, Olga, Jaleeli, and Nuhad.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, Ohio 45405). Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, OH, with a luncheon to immediately follow.
