Mary Ruth Kirker, 79, of Dayton, passed away on April 5, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 27, 1934 in West Union, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Caryl DeMint.
Mary Ruth was employed by Miami Valley Hospital as the Admitting Supervisor from which she retired in 1981. She was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she was involved in many volunteer and service activities.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant in 1957.
Mary Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John; children, Chris (Alan) Bertke, Eric (Susan) Kirker; grandchildren, Zach (Brooke) Bertke and Ali Bertke; brothers and sisters, Judy (Gladdin) Shupert, Richard (Shirley) DeMint, Betty (Charlie) Young, Cindy DeMint-Lewis, Jerry (Linda) DeMint; numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton where funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
