HICKS (LEVENDOSKY), MARY ROSE, age 84 of Riverside passed away quietly surrounded by her children on Sunday, July 29, 2007. She was born on February 5, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mary served her country during WWII where she met James, her husband of 53 years. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Helen Parish, involved in the Altar Rosary Society in her earlier years. In addition to raising five children, Mary worked outside the home, retiring from the Mad River School system with over 20 years of service. Mary was preceded in death by her husband James L. Hicks, Sr., parents John and Catherine Levendosky, along with her brothers and sisters. Mary had three daughters, Catherine (Kitty) and husband John Allen of Xenia, OH, Virginia (Cookie) Hix of Edmonds, WA, Patricia (Patsy) and husband Gerald Mahle of Kettering, OH. Two sons James Hicks, Jr. of Edmonds, WA, and Timothy Hicks of Englewood, OH. Grandchildren, Laura Allen, John D. Allen, Katie (Frank) Jarrett, Adam Mahle, Ryan James Mahle, Samantha Hicks, Audrey Hicks, and Matthew James Hicks. Two great-grandsons, Nicholas Greene and Christian Greene. Numerous nieces and nephews. The family will have a private visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Xenia on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 10:00 am where Father Kenneth Schartz will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery. The family request contributions be made in Mary's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
