Mary Newland

Mary Elizabeth (Carroll) Newland, age 77, passed away peacefully April 3, 2006 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born November 19, 1928, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Arch E. Carroll and Bessie Glass Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert H. Newland, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She was the loving mother of 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Fred Lacy, Patricia and Larry Tucker and Marilyn and Tim Whitehead, 1 son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Elena Newland. She was the devoted grandmother to Dr. Laura (Lacy) and David Rismiller, Brianna (Newland) and Ryan Smith, Sarah (Whitehead) and Dr. David Finch, Brian and Sara Tucker, Brandon Newland, Elizabeth (Tucker) and Jeff Graves and Scott Whitehead. She had 2 great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Rismiller and Abigale Kay Tucker. She is also survived by many relatives and dear friends, to include Barbara Fortener and her dearly loved cat, PussyWillow. She was a member of the Church of Christ of East Dayton for over 50 years. Mary was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., with Paster R. James "Pete" Creamer officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, April 7th from 6-8 p.m. and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at the funeral home.
