Mary Ellen Marrs

Mary Ellen Marrs, age 87 of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She was born September 30, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Elizabeth O'Connell (Cushing).

She was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary High School (Purcell Marian) and Central Academy of Commercial Art (Cincinnati Academy of Design) in 1957. 

Mary Ellen worked professionally illustrating the catalogs for Higbee's Department Store and Halle Brothers Co. in Cleveland, Ohio. She continued her artistic education throughout her life. Her favorite types of art were watercolors and pastels. 

She greatly loved musical theatre and music as a whole, a passion she passed on to her daughters and grandchildren. 

A devout Catholic, Mary Ellen was a parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo Church for over 50 years. 

Mary is survived by her sisters, Ruth Ann O’Connell and Kathleen (John) Gregg; daughters, Pamela (Gary) McGill, Victoria (Douglas) Bergmann, and Danielle (Edwin) Kirkland; grandchildren, Amanda Bergmann, Hallie (Benjamin) White, Jordan Kirkland, Meghan Kirkland, Justin McGill and Devin McGill; and great-grandson, Henry White. 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome Marrs; her son, Christopher; and son-in-law, Douglas Bergmann. 

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church (4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering, OH 45429). A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery (11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249).
