Born: 07-19-1938
Mary peacefully joined her son James Michael in heaven on April 27, 2009. Faith in God was a guiding light through a long and difficult illness. A life long resident of Dayton, Ohio, Mary raised her family, was actively involved in the Holy Cross Church, and worked for several years at Dayton, Power, and Light as an Executive Administrative Assistant, retiring in 1995. Her joys included gardening, the occasional glass of wine, quiet evenings on the porch, and her children. Mary made friends easily and was loved by many. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and for several years - wife.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Robert); grandchildren Katie, Claire, and Gabriel; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, James; sister Ruth Clendening, and brother Joseph Douglas. Mary's family will receive friends between 6 & 8 PM on Wednesday April 29th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Private graveside services for the family will be at Calvary Cemetery on Thursday April 30th at 1:00 PM.
