Mary Catherine Livingston (Kate) beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Beavercreek, Ohio, on April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 30, 1927, in Akron Ohio, Kate was a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by a spirit of determination and creativity.
Kate came of age during World War II, graduating from Springfield High Class of 1945. She raised four children, managed a household for 75 years as well as a 25-year career at Reynolds and Reynolds. She also helped look after her aging mother for many years. A short list of her skills includes cooking, canning, sewing, tiling, painting, concrete work and gardening. Kate was a busy and capable individual who found joy in her work, especially gardening and quilting. She remained active in both unit a few months prior to her death. Her accomplishments are a testament to her lifelong dedication to family and hard work.
Kate’s heart was filled with love for her family. She is survived by her children, Catherine (Jonathan Byer) Livingston, John (Abby Van Hoose) Livingston, and Marty (Deloris) Livingston. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren :Justine, Britta, Melanie, Gabe, Jessica, Rachel, Sam, Adam, John, and Zach, as well as her great-grandchildren: Cleo, Finn, Alex, Ian, Quinn, Norah, Ferris, Ethan, Winter, and Scarlett. Each of them cherished the moments spent with their grandmother, who taught them the value of creativity, perseverance and unconditional love.
Kate is also survived by her sister, Jo Ann Mullins, a companion through life’s many journeys. She joins her daughter Christine Livingston, along with her parents, Frank and Oma Miller, and her three brothers, Jimmy, Dale, Bill, and two sisters Jean and Gerry, who welcome her with open arms in the afterlife.
In her time on Earth, Mary Catherine Livingston embraced every moment, filling it with purpose, good works and love. She will be remembered for her unwavering support and the vibrant life she cultivated, in her garden, her quilts and within her family. Let us say farewell to a remarkable matriarch. We hold close the memories of her tenacious spirit, ensuring her legacy continues to bloom in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
