Borkowski, Mary K., age 91, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Heartland of Beavercreek. She was born March 28, 1916 in Sulphur Lick Springs, OH, the daughter of Joseph & Rena (Hennes) Porter. Mary was a legendary American Folk Artist whose work is displayed at the Smithsonian and other prestigious museums across the country. She had a great love for all animals. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward & Joseph Porter; and her sisters, Dorothy Heery & Ruth Denney. Survivors include nieces, Willa O'Shell & Betty Domineck; her beloved companion, Phil Seabrook; and her precious cats, Callie & Moses. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Dayton.
