SAXE, Mary Jane
71, passed away peacefully July 9, 2005, at her home in Huber Heights, Ohio, following a long illness. Born November 21, 1933, in the lumbering town of Masten, PA, she was the youngest of nine in the family of Jasper and Almira (Jackson) Robbins. She grew up in Canton, PA, and graduated from Canton High School. She would have celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, Walter, September 4th of this year. She was a devoted wife, who consistently assisted him throughout a military and civilian career at Dover AFB, DEL., Defense Supply Agency, VA, and Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. She enjoyed her outside the home career before children and after her children were grown. Friends from her hometown of Canton, PA, can remember her constant smile as she worked at Beam's Drug Store, Jim Taylor's Insurance and the office at Collins Valve. Friends in Ohio can recall her exuberance for work at the Fairborn Bank, Visue Sewer Office, and newspaper office at Tipp City. An avid reader, her ultimate job was working in the Huber Heights Library for nine years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church since 1958 where she was active in many activities. Because of her love of children she served many years in the church's nursery and toddler's room. Besides her husband, she is survived by son Walter "Chip" Saxe and daughter-in-law Debbie with granddaughters, Marlee and Kara, West Chester, Ohio; daughter Amy and grandson Patrick, Bellfontaine, Ohio; sisters Letha Tomlin, Chambersburg, PA, and Shirley Sullivan, Ithaca, NY; and brother-in-law Ronald and Jean, Layton, Utah. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard "Dick", Emmett "Pete", Merrell, and Theron; and sisters Marjorie Cott and Laura Koernig. A private remembrance will be held July 12 at her Huber Heights home to be followed by a remembrance at the Annual Robbins Family Reunion, Hillsgrove, PA, In August 2005. Burial will be at the Dayton National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that friends support their local Parkinson's and Alzheimer's organizations.
