Mary Jane Bertke

Mary Jane, 80, passed away on October 8, 2023, just two days short of her 81st birthday.

She was born in Dayton Ohio on October 10, 1942. Mary Jane was the daughter of Frank and Margaret Zvonyik. She leaves behind her sister Barbara Eckert and her husband Bern Eckert, and their children and grandchildren, her son Russ and wife Tamie Bertke, her son Brian and wife Amy Bertke, and daughter Kim Bertke, Mary Jane's grandchildren Nathan and wife Erika Bertke, Alison and husband Randell McMillin and great grandchildren Aurora, Hudson (deceased) and Henry McMillin. Mary Jane also leaves behind additional cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Bertke, her parents Frank and Margaret Zvonyik, and great grandson Hudson McMillin.

Mom was quite an accomplished seamstress, she would do alterations for doctors and other medical staff, the local ski shop and other clients. Mom loved her cats, as she gave them a great deal of attention, her kids are still jealous to this day. Mom loved traveling with dad and seeing all of the places they had never been and returning to places they had lived earlier in life, like Great Falls Montana while dad was in the Air Force. Mom sure loved going to the beach, Florida and Aruba were her favorites. Mom bowled for a lot of years, and dad would ask why you would continue to go bowling for so many years and never get close to getting a 300. Mom enjoyed baking at Christmas time and passing the family recipes down to us kids. Another of mom's favorite things to do was family dinner and movie night at Brian's house and spending time with the family, especially the grandkids.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm.
