Mary Jane Bell

BELL, Mary Jane, age 87, lifelong resident of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Linwood; infant son, David; five sisters; and four brothers. She is survived by 3 daughters, Sandra (Richard) Melke of Dayton, Linda Hocker of Beavercreek, and Vicki (Gary) Babbert of North Carolina; grandchildren, Rick (Aleshia) Melke, Christopher Hocker, Rachel (Cesar) Souza, Amy (Paul) Sylvester, Jennifer Hocker, and Sara Babbert; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Jane was a graduate of Stivers High School, class of 1939; worked for Dayton public schools as a Paraprofessional and retired in 1990. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Jane was very active in community affairs and served as a member of Citizens for Better Schools, East Dayton Priority Board, Sunrise Center Advisory Council, and the Dayton League of Women Voters. Visitation 5-8 pm Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Services 1 pm Monday, November 16, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Randall Brakemeyer officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
