Mary I. Huelsman

HUELSMAN, Mary I. (Rief) of Centerville, born 9/11/1927, passed quietly Sunday afternoon surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophie Rief, she is survived by Howard, her loving husband of 60+ years, daughters Susan (Jim) Ghory of Kettering and Sandie of Columbia, SC, son Tom (Janet) of Springboro, and her grandchildren, whom she cherished: April and Jim, James Christopher and Sean, Stephanie and TJ (Ashley). Mary is also survived by her siblings: Jim (Helen) Rief of Denver, CO; Eileen (Duane) Johnson of Fremont, NE; Ed (Jane) Rief of Axtell, NE; Frank (Bonnie) Rief of West Point, NE; Dan (Millie) Rief of Columbus, NE; and Georgia (Chuck) Maze of Fallon, NV. Mary was raised on the family farm in West Point, NE, and moved to Dayton to attend St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing (Class of 1949). She met and married Howard and went on to raise a family and become a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Mary and Howard have been long time parishioners of The Church of the Incarnation in Centerville. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Dayton, in particular, home health care nurses Beth and Kathleen, for their tender care. Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, South Chapel, will be handling final arrangements. The Rosary will be said at 10am Saturday, July 24, at Incarnation, followed by a memorial Mass at 10:30am, Fr. Lawrence Mierenfeld presiding. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will follow Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name can be made to Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley or Hospice of Dayton.
