AMORE, Mary Helen (Johnson), age 87, of Beavercreek, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009. She was born September 21, 1921 in Anderson, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Col. Glen R. Johnson, Sr. and Vesta Wilt Johnson; brother, Glen Roy Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Genevieve Vesta Steffen and Lois Evelyn Johnson; son, James G. Amore. She is survived by her special friend, Michael Malavich; daughters, Michele (Bill) Broughton and Wendy (Charles) Littrell all of Texas; grandchildren, Patrick Newhouse, Penny (Shannon) Cornelius, Brian Amore, Shannon Sumner, Teresa (Andy) McLelland, James Sumner, and Jasmine Littrell; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Madison, and Patrick Newhouse, Christopher Sumner and Aidan McLelland; nieces, Judy (Dan) Dalton, Jane (Virgil) Morris, and Barbara (Gary) Coop; nephews, Jack (Judy) Steffen and Rick Johnson; many great-nieces and great-nephews. She graduated from Bath Township High School in 1939. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over 60 years. Through the years she was employed by Apple Mfg, American Thermal Institute, Greene County, Fairborn Senior Center, and Jack's Aquarium. She enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, sewing, needlework, cooking, reading, and watching sports. She received her private pilots license in the 1950's while living in Japan. She has resided in the Greene County area since 1923 except for 51/2 years in Japan and some time in Zanesville, Columbus, Cincinnati, Covington, KY, Great Falls, MT, and Panama City, FL. She was a member of Parents Without Partners 210, Ladies Auxiliary FOE Aerie #321, Twin Base Square Dancing Club. She served on the church council and was past president and was part of the Women's Guild. She also served as Girl Scout leader. A celebration of Life is planned for Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Fairborn, Ohio.
