Mary Ruth Graupmann, age 86 of Fairborn, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Dayspring Healthcare & Rehabilitation. She was born July 22, 1932 in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of Otis and Minerva Keith.
Mary married her husband, Melwin in 1954 at the Caroline Mission in St. Louis, Missouri. Before settling down in Fairborn, Ohio with their 4 children, she and her family lived in Perham and Eitzen, Minnesota for several years. The family was excited to move to Fairborn, Ohio where Melwin served as the minister at Trinity United Church of Christ.
After graduating from college with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Mary began teaching at Black Lane Elementary School in 1972. She continued teaching for more than twenty years until retiring in 1992.
Mary enjoyed traveling, especially when it was with her grandchildren. Bicycling was another hobby she was known to do. Mary was creative and did a lot of sewing and crocheting, making afghans for many people in her family. She was known to her family as a wonderful cook, baking birthday cakes for all to enjoy. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, cherishing the time spent with family, especially those times when she could spoil her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melwin Graupmann, brothers, Herbert and Herschel Keith and sister, Marjorie "Fern" Hopper.
Mary is survived by her sons, Bryan (Nancy) Graupmann, Paul Graupmann and Bradley (Kathy) Graupmann; daughter, Lisa Graupmann; grandchildren, Jon, Joshua, Jordan, Olivia, Andrew, Kelsey, Evan (Rebecca) and Claire Graupmann. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive guests Friday, November 16, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer, Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery, Plato, Minnesota.
