Mary E. Johnson, age 61, of Franklin, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 24, 2012. Mary was born August 27, 1951 in Elmhurst, IL to the late Ralph & Rosalie Griggs. When she was 12 years old her family moved to Venice, FL where she grew up and spent most of her young adult life. She graduated from Venice High School in 1969 and from Florida State with her Master's Degree in Social Work in 1976. Mary worked in a variety of social work positions in FL and OH. Her most current position was with South Community Behavioral Healthcare, where she worked for 8 years.
In 1984 she married Jay Patrick Johnson and moved to Dayton, OH. Mary is survived by her husband of 28 years; children, Jessica (Todd) Murray, Jacob Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson; grandchildren, Bree and Ethan Murray; siblings, Paul (Catherine) Griggs and Karen Kinley; father-in-law, Austin Johnson; brother-in-law, Mike (Terri) Johnson; sister-in-law, Julie (Terry) Clark; 7 nieces; 6 nephews; 2 great-nieces; 6 great-nephews; many other relatives and friends.
Mary was a faithful Christian who loved and served the Lord in many capacities her entire life. She attended Dayton and Middletown Living Word and most recently Apex Community Church where she was involved with the House Church Ministry.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10-11 am at Clearcreek Christian Assembly (1150 S. Main St., Springboro, OH 45066). The memorial service will follow at 11 am. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in the Spirit of Living Water section at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (2300 Wall St., Cincinnati, OH 45212).
