Altendorf, Mary E., age 91, of Centerville, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Mary was a 1940 graduate of Monroe High School where she was very active in sports and cheerleading. She also graduated from the Dayton Comptometer School and was a long time volunteer at Kettering Medical Center where she greeted everyone with a gracious smile. Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Edward E. Altendorf; parents: James & Susan (Guenther) Copp; daughter: Barbara Sue Miller; brothers: James & Edward Copp; and son-in-law: Samuel H. Rankin. She is survived by her daughter: Sharon K Rankin of Huber Heights; grandchildren: Brendan (Pilar) Rankin of Palo Alto, CA, Sam (Vicky) Rankin of Phoenix, AZ, David (Tracy) Rankin of Louisville, KY, Mary (Aaron) Tucker of Lincoln, NE, Mike (Jayne) Miller of Medina, Mark (Tracy) Miller of Kettering; great grandchildren: Robert, Laura & Allen Rankin, Grace & Claire Rankin, Lyndsie Rankin, Ashton Tucker, Michayla, Marcella, Alexander & Harrison Miller; brother: Robert (Ruth) Copp of Troy; sister-in-law: Beverly Copp of Zionsville, IN; very special friend of 80 years: Helen Plieman; and numerous other family members and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Leonard Faith Community, 8100 Clyo Rd., Centerville. Interment will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Kettering. The family will receive friends AT CHURCH on Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass.
