Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Curtis-Young, age, 73, took flight, May 17th, 2022, As she gave way her battle in this life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, father and Pastor, E.L Curtis and loving mother, Lurett. She is survived by her children, Swain and Christa Gibson; her one and only cherished granddaughter, Ashley Gibson; her one great granddaughter, Hadley Ann Kathleen, as these two held a special love language without words, and of course, her bigger than life adorable only great grandson, Nolan Warren. She also leaves behind her 7 siblings, Dixie Singer, of whom she would spend many weekends with over the years - Woody (Linda) Curtis, of whom endured Kathy's tattle telling as kids - Betty Wilhoite, her closest of siblings as they raise their children together - Hobie (Lynn) Curtis , her brother who would spend their monthly visits eating lunch and reminiscing - Patricia Ann (Samual) Bronson, her sister, who became good friends as they journeyed similar paths together - Keith (Mary) Curtis, the baby brother who would become the most protective and Lisa Bargo, her little sister of whom she always made sure she was taken care of. She took great pride in having close relationships with her nieces and nephews, including her first name sake, Sarah Kathleen. Her great nieces and nephews found their way into her arms as she was known to have a special kinda of "soothing" with each one.
Although her heritage reaches back to Kentucky, of which she would visit over the years, she was raised in Dayton Ohio and was a graduate of Beavercreek High School. She was known for her "jump in and get it done" attitude. She experienced love by giving to others and took nothing for herself. She wasn't afraid to get dirty or meet any stranger. She just loved people! Under her father's ministry she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ mid 70's and would soon find great passion for Praise and Worship through Gospel music. This passion would eventually lead to her calling as Choir Director. Her work in the ministry would also include her Sunday school teachings as well as her drive to plan and direct church functions. She retired from Pepsi Cola early 90's after working there 20 plus years and built a confidence in knowing her hard work finally paid off. Her home was open to anyone who needed and her heart was seen by those who knew and loved her. She devoted her love in raising her two children as a single parent, as well as giving her heart and time to her granddaughter, Ashley. She took no greater joy than to be of service to anyone. She may not have held accolades of this life yet her heart yielded a love that cannot be simply learned. Her memories told, her faith in Jesus Christ, her love and dedication to family will be forever told in her generations to come. You will be forever missed. We love you mom.
