Mary Cornett

Cornett, Mary Lucille (Crawford), age 78, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2016 with her family by her side.

She was born in Tompkinsville, KY to the late Johnie and Jewell Crawford. She attended Auburn, KY High School and Bowling Green Business School and The University of Kentucky. She was a secretary for several businesses throughout her career. Her most recent position was for Dayton Public Schools, working as a secretary at Ruskin Elementary, where she retired.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, spending time with her family, and traveling, including two trips to Japan with students and staff from Ruskin. Mary was always willing to help others in need and did so without desiring recognition. She was a faithful member of the West Carrollton Church of Christ for many years. She obeyed the gospel starting at an early age and continued to do so her entire life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rex, JC, and Paul Crawford; and step-granddaughter, Lavender Mae Van Lieu.

She leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband of 55 years, Clifford Cornett; children, Vicki (Daniel) Van Lieu and Chris (Debbi) Cornett; grandchildren, Cooper and Landon Cornett, and step-grandson, Cory Van Lieu; step-great-grandchildren, Faye and Kyle; sisters, Bonnie Perkins and Thelma Crawford; brothers, Kelly (Paula) Crawford and Wayne (Margaret) Crawford; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Kettering, from 5pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:30, with Minister Mike Grushon officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
