Mary A. Bridges, age 79, of Dayton, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1940 in Ashland, Alabama the daughter of the late Wesley and Marie Judkins.
To know her was to love her and was everyone's "momma". She was the epitome of what it meant to be a sweet person. Mary was a devoted licensed Evangelist who loved to preach the word of God. Her passion was to see lost souls come to the Lord. Mary was always known for her saying "To God be the Glory". She was a devout member of Bethesda Temple for many years. She was also affiliated with The Marketplace Movement. Mary enjoyed ministering at many local nursing homes. She attended Roosevelt High School and Sinclair Community College. Mary was a home health care professional and previously worked at Rikes and Elder Beerman Department Stores. Her favorite pastime was eating out, especially at Olive Garden, Golden Corral, Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse and Cracker Barrel. Mary delighted in doing the Limbo with her children. She was famous for singing in a Mason jar to get her acoustics. She loved visiting her family in Atlanta where she enjoyed going to Six Flags Amusement Park.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bridges, Sr., daughter, Saundra Bridges; siblings, Katherine Judkins, Herman Judkins, Josie Elston, Rosie Elston, Frank Judkins, Daisy Graham, Emmanuel Judkins and Paul Judkins.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Debra (Peter) Ramos, Edward (Crystal) Bridges Jr., Michael Bridges, Sr., Gina Harris, Rita (Carl) Sharp, Kimberly (Chester) Mathews and Ronnie Bridges; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Cooper and special friends, Dorothy Anderson, Theresa Chia, Evangelist Wiley, Shirley Badgett and Joan Goode.
Family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Bethesda Temple, 3701 Salem Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45406, where a funeral service will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the services at West Memory Gardens in Moraine, Ohio.
