Mary Ann Thomas

Mary Ann (Maher) Thomas, age 81, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024 in the loving presence of her family. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Michael Joseph Thomas; children Sheila (Brian) Paton, Peter (Anna) Thomas; grandchildren Adrienne Paton, Jacob Paton, and AJ Thomas; and sisters Ellen Maher, Jeannie Bottoms, Nancy Walker, Sharon Kryza, and Winnie (Bill) Wilkinson. Her parents, Edward and Mamie Maher, preceded her in death. 

Mary Ann was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Saint Joseph Academy in 1961. She married Michael Thomas on June 5, 1965, and moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she lived for 30 years. She then relocated to Nebo, North Carolina for 27 years before returning to Ohio in 2022. She raised two children in Ohio while continuing her education, attaining her accounting degree from Sinclair College. She worked as an enrolled agent accountant for several firms in Dayton and North Carolina. 

Mary Ann was an active and faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Dayton for 30 years. She could also often be found with friends on the golf course and playing card games. She was a dedicated and energetic member of Marion Lake Golf Club for 27 years where she forged countless friendships and had many wonderful times. She loved traveling, hosting parties, and spending time with her family and many friends. 

A visitation will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at St. Leonard’s Church, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville, Ohio from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Eulogy and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
