Mary Ann (Axe) Minnich, 85, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015. Born on June 7, 1930 to the late Eugene and Alice Axe, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Minnich; her sister, Alice Ostendorf; her brother , Eugene Axe, Jr.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and James Petty; and her sister-in-law, Leora Axe. Mary Ann is also survived by her loving girls, Peggy (Paul) Schlesinger of Bardstown, Kentucky; Susan (Barb) Minnich, of Springboro, Ohio; Judy (NS) Holtvogt, of Tipp City, Ohio; Becky (Stephen) Ledva of Havertown, Pennsylvania; and Ann (Michael) Hess, of Gahanna, Ohio.
Grandma/Gma, will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Carrie Holtvogt Stratton (Jason), Christina Schlesinger, Eric Holtvogt (Michelle), Andrew Ledva (Stephanie), Megann Hess Matthews (James), Gregory Ledva and Steven Hess. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Natalie, Elizabeth, Brooklyn and Lindsey.
Mary Ann graduated from Julienne High School and was a charter member of St. Henry Parish, where she was very active in the early years of the parish. She worked as a branch counselor for the Dayton Daily News for over 30 years, where she mentored many young people.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on December 30, 2015 at St. Henry Parish, 6696 Springboro Road, Dayton, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Ann's name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Dayton, Ohio.
