Harris, Sr., Rev. Marvin I., age 69, of Huber Heights went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born February 22, 1940 in New Haven, Connecticut, the son of the late Frederick & Mildred Harris. He served in the US Army Reserves and was the pastor of the Church of Praise in Dayton. He retired from GM Truck and Bus after 23 years of service. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters, Marilyn and Margo; uncles, Harvey, Adrian, Andrew; aunt, Sadie; nephews, Elishah and Michael. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mona Harris; children from his first marriage to Marie Branham, Julia, Marvin Jr., Roseann, and James; children from his present marriage, Franklin, Carmen, Adrian, & Leah; step-son, Jackie; foster sons, Bobby & Freddie Dillard; spiritual daughter, Cynthia Boddie; 26 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and brother, Fred Harris, Sr.; and numerous nieces and nephews The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton and Dr. David Cox for all of their care. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH, with Apostle Fred Harris from the New Risen Christ Ministries International in Detroit officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until the time of services.
