Martin Raphael Class

November 16, 1967 — April 22, 2020

Marty Class, 52, died April 22, 2020 in Dayton Ohio.

He was born in Baja California, Tijuana Mexico to Rosa Class and Ronald Class.

He lived the majority of his life in southwest Ohio, with brief stretches in Mexico, California, West Virginia and Indiana.

He was mom's favorite. He was a shy, sensitive kid with ginger hair and freckles that all the little girls would follow home from grade school.

He grew into a wild boy when he attended Wayne High school with his brother, Jeff and sister, Christina in Huber Heights. He met his wife Cindy there at 16 and they've been best friends ever since. He loved Bruce Lee, nun chucks (youngest sister Marilyn still feels the bruise on her eye) and was always happy to demonstrate his roundhouse kick. He loved friends, racing cars on Rip Rap, and threw legendary house parties where his dog, Ski, was always in attendance.

A very talented artist; he always sketched at all stages of his life.

Easy to talk to, he became the music coordinator for his family's bar in West Virginia, quickly turning a hole in the wall into a local legend and a fireman's over capacity nightmare every weekend.

Taking pictures of the bands, he discovered photography. He became an assistant photographer at a local studio and quickly fell in love with his craft.

He attended Sinclair Community College, always on the Dean's list, and continued to hone his prodigious artistic talent in many mediums.

He quickly found his style in black and white photography after that of Helmut Newton. He became a part of the Chicago art scene, with many art gallery showings.

He was always either searching for models, locations to shoot, or if you couldn't find him, he would be developing in his basement darkroom, obsessed with contrast, his music forever at full blast.

His continued skill and tireless hard work set him apart and he became an accomplished fine art photographer with a book published, articles, photo spreads and reviews featured in many publications in several countries.

He was currently manager at the WPAFB frame shop and enjoyed the friends he made working there. Photography never far from his mind, this was a perfect day to day.

During all this, he remained the sane one of our family. He cared for his mother every day of his life. He took on the role of provider and created a home that many of us immediate family enjoyed at one time or another and branched out from. In some kind of capacity, he has always been there for us.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Petra and Anselmo Ramirez, Forrest and Loma Class; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Jane Kerr; and sister-in-law, Beth Kerr.

He is survived by his parents, Rosa Class and Ronald Class; and his wife, Cindy Class; brother of Idalia Class, Jeff (Beverly) Class, Christina (Kevin) Stowe and Marilyn (Monteca) Lauber; as well as brother to Jonathan and Julianne Class.

He had no children but plenty of nieces (Carmina, Angela, Isabella, and Jennah) and nephews (KC, Jesse, Adolfo, and Adrian) driving him crazy and tearing the house apart when they visited grandma.

An eternal animal lover, he was the proud dad to his 3 dogs, Lucy, Ethel, and Bones, as well as whatever strays mom fosters, running around the house.

A legendary sarcasm he inherited from his grandma, those younger than him have been shaped by his sense of humor. His good natured goofiness and play never waned; Always a kid at heart.

This is our son, brother, uncle, husband, friend. We love him dearly.

Too many attributes to list. Too well loved, too well liked, too much looked up to and counted on to possibly express in a short blurb about his life on how incredibly loved he is and always will be. There is a hole now in all of us.

We love you Teen

Late

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

1 John 3:2

Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
