Marthaleen E. Oliver
April 16, 1924 — July 23, 2014
Oliver, Marthaleen E. (nee Smith) age 90, of Riverside, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on Wednesday, July 24, 2014.
She was born on April 16, 1924 in Conover, NC. to the late Vance and Vida Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Edwin N. Oliver, and brothers Bud and JB Smith.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Heyward (Kent), Brenda Badgley (Oscar), Steven Oliver (Cheryl) and Robert Oliver; her grandchildren Victoria Roy, Erica McNerney, Christine Furlow, Scott Heyward, Amy Bellware, John Badgley, and Ryan Oliver; her 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Sarah Hull, Carolyn Starnes, and Mary Dees; and brothers Donald, George and Johnny Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marthaleen also retired after 20 years from the U.S Post Office. She was a longstanding member in faithful service at the Community United Methodist Church in Riverside.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. Although coming from the adversity and humble beginnings of the Great Depression, she taught her family the value of hard work, honesty, serving others, and most importantly having a steadfast faith in The Lord.
A mother like ours will always be more than a memory, she will be a living presence in all the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am with funeral services following on Monday July 28, 2014 at Community United Methodist Church at 339 Meyer Ave. Riverside OH.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church in Marthaleens' memory.
