Martha C. Herring

Martha Carroll Herring, age 92, of Dayton passed away on August 4, 2024. She was born in Dayton on February 22, 1932 to the late Walter and Anne Grierson. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Wayne Herring; son, Jerry Robert Herring and siblings, John Grierson and Darlene Holt.

She is survived by her children, Steven Herring, Joyce (Michael) Tarter; grandchildren, Valerie (Jason) Richmond, Steven W. (Tina) Herring II, Jeffrey Herring, Jerry (Shannon) Herring, Andrew (Stephanie) Tarter, Amy (Zach) Byrne; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Shelby) Richmond, Jared Richmond, Ella Herring, Allison Herring, Beau Byrne, Baker Byrne, Madison Tarter and great-great-grandchildren, Isabelle Richmond, Everett Richmond, Raylyn Sanning and Kayson Richmond; along with many other family and friends. 

Martha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Miami Shores Baptist Church and Moraine Senior Citizen Club for many years. She enjoyed cooking and was always known for her wonderful chocolate chips cookies. Martha will be deeply missed and forever loved by those who knew her. 

Family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Miller Farm Place, Laurelwood Senior Living and Day City Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Miami Shores Baptist Church, 4000 Vance Rd. Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Doug Surber to officiate.
