Marlene Wilson, age 82 of Dayton passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Marlene was born in Dayton to the late Clifton and Cresma White. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1955. During her school years she was a majorette and active in the school band.
Marlene married Richard A. Wilson, Sr. in September 1957. The two shared many happy years together. She was an incredibly creative woman and enjoyed painting and drawing in her free time. Marlene had a contagious joy and passion for life. She could light up the room with her smile and never knew a stranger. She took great pride in caring for her family. Marlene was a loving, compassionate, and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Wilson, Sr. in 2000; grandson, Brandon Wilson; siblings, Jacqueline (Otis) Carter, Gloria Watts, Ellen White, and Clifton White, Jr.; brother-in-law, Arthur Glass; and niece, Joycelyn "Lady Bird" Collins.
Marlene leaves to cherish her memory, children, Candi (Wilson) Jones, Richard A. Wilson, Jr. and wife, Amanda; and Jon Wilson and wife, Roxann; grandchildren, Larry Dwan Jones IV, Jordan Alexander Jones, Julian Michael Jones, Richard Wilson III, Starla Wilson, Londyn Averi Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Alex Wilson, and Taylor Wilson; great-granddaughter, Ava; siblings, Mary McCray, Ruth Glass, Patricia Reed, Melvin White, Paris White, Gerald White, Rodney White; sister-in-law, Diana Wilson; son-in-law, Larry Jones III; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Marlene's Life will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10:30am. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00am - 10:30am. Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
