Marlene A. Saul

November 14, 1933 — January 26, 2025

Marlene A. Saul (Puterbaugh) passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 91, preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Edna Puterbaugh. Marlene was a descendant of one of the founding families of Belmont. As the oldest member of Belmont United Methodist Church, she served in countless ways over her lifetime. Following her mother’s footsteps, she never hesitated to help those in need.

She graduated from Stivers High School in 1951 and was an active member of the reunion committee for many years. Marlene married Robert E. Saul, Sr. on October 19, 1957 and was a devoted mother to Robert E. Jr. Saul (Susan), Stacie Allen (Bret), and Daryl Saul (Sheila).

Marlene worked in banking and retired from the Bellbrook Community Bank, where she formed many lasting friendships with customers and coworkers. She was a talented seamstress for the Bellbrook Eaglettes and Drum Corps. Known for her attention to detail and flashy style, she took great pride in her appearance, always having coordinated jewelry and manicured nails.

Her sense of humor was infectious, and she had the ability to brighten any room with her laughter. She found great joy in all things purple, trying new things, visiting new places, and sharing stories of her grandchildren. Marlene was a life-long fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Dayton Flyers. In her younger days, she followed the Flyers cross country to cheer them on.

She is survived by six grandchildren: Andrea Graddy (Jeremy), Megan Duff (Ryan), Ryan Myers (Jami), Beau Allen (Jenahlyn), Tyler Saul (Graisen), and Jenna Saul; as well as nine great grandchildren: Samuel & Bridget Graddy, Grant Duff, Brantley & Wren Myers, Walker Allen, and Hudson, Henry & Harrisen Saul, all of whom lovingly called her “GG”.

A Celebration of Life for Marlene will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Belmont United Methodist Church (2701 S Smithville Rd, Dayton, OH 45420).
