Marlene Koenig

Marlene Carol Koenig, 67, of Huber Heights, passed away unexpectedly on March 9th, 2014 in Dayton, Ohio.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence & Oricedell Shreffler & her sister-in-law Virginia Shreffler.

She is survived by her husband, Col. (Retired) Joseph A. Koenig, her siblings, Karen (Adron) Norris, Lawrence (Wanda) Shreffler, Cheryl Shreffler-Short, David Shreffler, her children, Tama (Mike) Kraushaar, Keith Dale Shafer, Kimberly (Gary) Vencill, her stepchildren, Michele (Gary) Dillow, Cindi (Mark) Gragg, Jessica Koenig, her 7 grandchildren, Alicia "Ree" Shafer, Joshua "Joshy" Shafer, Christian "CT" Phillips, April "Chelle" Smith, Kelsey "Boo" Phillips, C.G. "Trey" Dillow III, Taylor "Tay" Dillow, numerous other family members, and a church family she also loved dearly.

Marlene was born in Guthrie, OK to Lawrence & Oricedell (Moad) Shreffler on March 6th, 1947. She went to Guthrie High School. She worked for the Department of the Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and retired in 1996. She was a member of Soul Winners for Jesus Christ Church. She loved her church family very much! She enjoyed praying, giving hugs, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Bethel Christian Assembly of God in Dayton, OH on March 12th, 2014, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with a service immediately following at 3:00 PM. Pastor Scott Davidson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Soul Winners for Jesus Christ, 910 N. Main St. Dayton, OH 45405.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the MICU nursing staff at Grandview Hospital for their compassion and the loving care they showed to Marlene in her final days.
