Marla K. Brogee, age 68, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Marla was born in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada on April 17, 1950 to the late R.J. & Florence Kerr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Robert W. Brogee (m. Sept 3, 1977) and brother, Robert Kerr. Marla is survived by her sons, Kevin (Jennifer) Brogee and Scott Brogee; stepchildren, Karen (Doug) Weeks, Rob (Anne) Brogee, Jay (Denise) Brogee and John (Julie) Brogee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Marla grew up in the Georgian Bay area of Ontario, Canada, and was the Thornbury District High School Queen in 1966-67. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business education from Wright State University in 1980. Marla was a high school teacher for Miamisburg Schools, and a teacher at the Warren County Career Center. She became a Realtor in 1985, then later a real estate broker, and founded Elite Real Estate, Inc. in Dayton. Marla served as a real estate agent and broker in the greater Dayton area for many years. She not only sold houses and properties, but loved developing relationships with her clients, counting them as friends.
Marla was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was a fierce Mama Bear. She especially loved her role as Nana. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh.
She always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. These words of encouragement, wisdom, and sometimes comfort, kept us in line, taught us the "school of hard knocks" and gave us something to pass down to our children. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her sons strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5-8 pm at Newcomer South Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. The service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2019 at 10am. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Marla will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
