Mark Lynn Underwood

January 22, 1957 — September 21, 2021

Mark Lynn Underwood, age 64, of Centerville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2021. Mark, also known as Bubby, was born on January 22, 1957 to the late Howard Glen Underwood II and Betty Iolene Buffington in Portsmouth, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Mark is preceded in death by his sons, Adam and Peter Underwood; siblings, Howard Glen Underwood III, Philip J. Underwood, and Gail Sue (Larry Arnold Sr.) Boldman; brother-in-law, Wesley Wells; and nephew, Christopher Lee Mabry.

Mark will be remembered by his sons, Mark Underwood and Maxwell Edwards Underwood; sister, Juanita Wells; his grandchildren; nephew, John (Melissa) Wells; nieces, Leslie (Glen) Gregg, Michelle (Robbie) Isabell, Jessica (Terry) Pritchard, Bonnie Lynn Boldman; nephew, Larry Arnold (James) Boldman Jr.; spiritual sissy, Sherry Ruffner, Janie McGhee; spiritual brother, Leslie Ridenour; as well as and many other loving family members and friends.

He served his country proudly by serving in the United States Army, enlisting on December 1, 1975 and being honorably discharged on April 3, 1978. Mark loved the Lord, and he had the kindest, sweetest, and most compassionate heart that ever existed. He made some mistakes in his life, but he asked for forgiveness, and from that point on, he wanted nothing more than to share the love of Jesus with anyone he met. He worked at the Shawnee State Lodge as a night auditor for years, where he was loved by many coworkers. He was blessed by getting close to the Joni Eareckson Tada Ministry and the retreats they had at the Lodge. He enjoyed learning and taking college classes, and he also wrote music, poems, played the guitar and sang. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. A special thanks to the ones who loved and who were kind and compassionate to him through his illness.

Mark was a follower of Christ and would love his memory to live through the word of God, therefore, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in Mark's memory can be made to Gideon International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214 or www.sendtheword.org.
