Mark R. Steineke, age 80 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2016 after a sudden illness. He was born on August 28, 1935, Dayton, Ohio.
A loving & devoted husband & father, Mark is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan, & four loving daughters, Carol, Patti, Kim & Laura; 12 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.
Mark graduated from Fairmont HS in 1953, then served in the United States Air Force & while stationed in England, Joan joined him & they were married in 1956 in the Air Force Chapel.
Mark worked as a Dayton police officer, a school bus driver & a purchasing agent for Hyland Machine Company. He later became the Flight Captain & Chief Pilot for Foreman Industries, Aviation Management Corp (his own business) & The Dupps Company. He was highly respected by all pilots who knew him.
He was a member of the American Legion, AOPA & Fairmont Alumni.
Always quick with a joke to make everyone laugh. Always willing to help others. Able to fix almost anything & if not, "duct tape it". Avid reader of history. He will be missed dearly by family & friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home- South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until the time of service.
