Mark Heitzman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 30, 2025, at the age of 75 in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on January 12, 1950, Mark led a vibrant life characterized by a remarkable career, a close-knit family, and a joyful spirit that endeared him to all.
A proud graduate of Fairview High School, class of 1968, Mark dedicated himself to a career as a talented HVAC technician while also owning his own business. His technical expertise and strong work ethic earned him respect in his profession and solidified his reputation in the Dayton community.
Mark was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his infectious sense of humor. His hilarious personality brought laughter and light into every room he entered, making him a cherished presence among family and friends.
In addition to work, Mark embraced a variety of hobbies that enriched his life and created lasting memories with his loved ones. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and bowling with his lifelong friend Nelson DeMoss. His most enjoyable past time was solving math problems and brain teaser puzzles. Mark loved spending time with his family in Mackinac, going on camping trips, and taking the kids to the park.
He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Pamela, who stood by him through every challenging circumstance and she was always by his side. He is also survived by their daughter, Dusty Dawn. Mark will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Chasity, Dezyre (Timothy), and Toni, as well as his great-grandchildren, Princeton, Echo, and Mazelin. He is also survived by his siblings, Edward (Robin) Heitzman and Susan Robinson, his sister-in-law, Nancy Heitzman. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins will fondly remember Mark.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, James and Jean Heitzman; his son, Doug Bartee; siblings Barry Heitzman and Gary Heitzman; his brother-in-law, Brian Robinson; his niece, Amy Heitzman; and two special canine companions, Logan and Bobo.
Mark's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his humor, love, and unwavering spirit. His family and friends will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
