Mark (Mike) John Borgerding, age 84, died Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his residence of three years, Vienna Springs Health Campus, in Miami Township, Ohio, after a long illness with frontotemporal dementia.
He was born at home on October 7, 1940, in New Weston, OH to the late Henry and Ida (Gels) Borgerding. He received an associate degree from Sinclair Community College. He worked many years as a machinist. He retired after 21 years as a letter carrier from the United States Postal Service, in 2005. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church since 1969, and Our Lady of Good Hope Church before that.
Preceding him in death were his brothers, John, Daniel, Robert, Joseph, Eugene (and Ramona) Borgerding, Richard Borgerding, Harold (and Jean) Borgerding, James Borgerding; and sisters Henrietta, Norma (and Jerry) Grieshop, Virginia (and Ken) Grimberg, Marie (and William) Glass, Joan (and Elmer) Wendel, and Pat (and Jack) Sauer. There is one surviving sister-in-law, Marilyn (Richard) Borgerding.
On December 31, 1966, he married Marilyn J. Allen, who survives. Mark is also survived by his two children, Beth (and Victor) Ortuno of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and son, Mark A. (and Elaine) Borgerding, of Dublin OH. He has seven grandchildren: Lindsey, Catherine, Marco, Matthew, Nathan, Yajaira, and Victor, and four great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Laney, Mya and Remi.
After careful consideration in 1998, Mark committed his remains to the Boonshoft School of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program. A commemorative brick will be placed in his honor at the Rockafield Cemetery path in the woods of Wright State University.
Visitation with the family will be held in the Meeting Room building to the left of St. Henry Catholic Church on, Monday, March 24th, at 10 AM. The Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM at the church. A luncheon will follow at noon, at the Parish Activity Center, across the parking lot. St. Henry Catholic Church is located at 6696 N. Springboro Pike, Dayton OH 45449.
