Mark A. Hickey

Hickey, Mark Allen, 52, of Centerville, died peacefully Saturday June 19, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton of Bladder Cancer with wife Charlotte (Davis) Hickey by his side.

He was born to Ann Alexia (Knapke) and the late John Lawrence Hickey, Jan. 7, 1958, in Dayton, OH. He graduated from Archbishop Alter High School in 1976 and received a BS in Computer Science from the University of Dayton in 1979.

Mark was a passionate person with great inner strength. Mark used his inner strength, and that of his loved ones, to fight his cancer for four years. He was an avid cyclist and passionate about health and fitness including weight lifting and earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was a deeply spiritual man and academically a student of faith. He studied history and had a particular interest in the Civil War.

He is survived by his wife: Charlotte (Davis) Hickey, children: Dana Hickey of Asheville NC., Allison Hickey of Dayton OH., and Kimra Hickey of Dayton, OH., step children: Amanda (Benjamin) Walker of Vandalia, OH., Thomas Lauber Jr. of Orlando, FL., and Mariah Lauber of Miamisburg, OH., grandchildren: Draven, Hannah, Thomas III, Natalie, Emmalyne, and Zakariah. His is also survived by his mother: Ann Alexia (Knapke) Hickey of Kettering OH., and brothers: Lawrence (Ursula) Hickey of Fair Oaks, CA., and Patrick Hickey of Columbus, OH., nieces and nephews: Dylan, Dominic, Megan, Erin, Brendan, Colin, and Jenny, grand niece: Kyra, and many other beloved family members. He is preceded in death by his wife: Barbara (Seitz) Hickey, brother: Thomas Hickey of Nederland, CO., father: John Lawrence Hickey, and nephew: Shawn (Jean) Hickey.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at The Vineyard (1222 N. Main St., Dayton) presided by Scott Sliver. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.
