Marjorie Rosalie (Hesson) Dailey

August 29, 1916 — August 29, 2013

Marjorie Rosalie (Hesson) Dailey of Riverside OH went to be with our Lord on her 97th birthday, August 29, 2013! She passed on peacefully at home where she received care for congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's from Vitas Hospice. She will be forever grateful to those kind and compassionate individuals who brought laughter and comfort to her final days.

"Marge" was born August 29, 1916 in Lawrence County, Ohio to Omo Lea Hayes Hesson and Earle Earnest Hesson. She spent her childhood between Greasy Ridge, Huntington WV, and Farmington IL and enjoyed going to the picture show with her mother and brother, William Lovern "Buck" Hesson. She adored her big brother Lovern and was given the nickname "tagalong" by one of her favorite cousins, Thelma. She had a horse she loved to ride to run errands on while her father took the family car to work. She also loved to peck on the piano and enjoyed family gatherings at their home where visitors brought their instruments to play together. It is no wonder her home was always a place of welcome and fun.

She had many friends in school and was captain of the Women's basketball team. Many of her classmates thought she would either train to be a teacher or have a houseful of kids because of her great love for children. However, neither was the case as she married her now deceased childhood sweetheart, Franklin Ray Dailey, by eloping to Louisa, KY July 29, 1938 with the help of her mother. Her father liked Frank as a friend, but no one would have been good enough for Marge. They had two children, baby Douglas who rests between her mother and father, and her beloved son Darrell. Marjorie worked in a dress factory and even was asked to be a model. She was noted to be one of the best workers. She also worked at the NCR for a time. She eventually devoted the rest of her life to her family and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, chauffeuring, fishing, entertaining and baking birthday cakes. She drove a car full to Turner Road Church of Christ for many years where she had many friends, eventually even turning her beloved Frank to the Lord.

Marjorie started to fulfill God's plan for her life taking care of other's children when they needed a helping hand, even being called by a school principal to find out who this "Marge" was that had these children spitpolished for school. It was not the principal's esteem that she was seeking, but her delight just to help someone in need and know those children felt proud. Many years later they returned and thanked her. She never forgot it. She continued taking care of children when Darrell brought home his new wife with two little ragamuffin "crumbsnatchers". Marjorie got to be a mother all over again. She was an embodiment of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV, "4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails…" George and Mari Lin were quite a handful but grandmother Dailey assured them, "I loved every minute of it." She enjoyed helping her great-grandchildren as well and loved to read to them. To her credit a lifetime of watching her generous hospitality and nerves of steel has produced too many friends and family to mention, who deeply love her and though celebrating her return to her Father, will mourn her passing greatly.

She is survived by her son Darrell Dailey, grandchildren George (Donna) McGinnis, Mari Lin Robinson, David Robinson, great grandchildren Ben Frame, Diana Simpson, Ashley McGinnis, Ryan Robinson (Becky McQuerry), and Caitlin Robinson, and nephew Bob(Peggy)Hesson. She is also survived by special friends Carol Dailey,Viola Moon, Chester Combs, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Ruby Creech and also to Carol Dailey and Cathy Geurrant for exceptionally caring for Marjorie.
