Schaaf, Marion, age 81, of Washington Township, passed away March 4, 2007 at Liberty Retirement Community. Marion was born April 21, 1925 in Detroit, MI, to Anthony & Nancy Banner. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, and granddaughter, Jamie Watts. Survivors include her children, Marcie Yannekis, Gloria Carusone and her husband Peter, and John Watts; grandchildren, Stacie VanDam, her husband, Chuck, and children, Amanda, Marissa, and Megan; Christopher Bach; Candida Stamp, her husband, Bill, and their son, Edison; "adopted" daughter, Sandra Koch; caregiver, Camela Putman; companion and deeply loved, Taz. The family would like to thank Drs. Maureen Perez, Timothy Sorg, Thomas Cook, Stephen Ward, and Christopher Lauricella and the entire staff at Liberty for their excellent and compassionate care. We were especially touched by the loving attention she received from Melissa and Brenda. Mary was a devoted mother and loved her children and Taz above all else. She retired from Yoder Die Casting Company over 15 years ago. She enjoyed listening to books on tape, crocheting, crafts, her flowers, and the color purple. Our mom was almost 82. That's a good, long life. Still, we are not ready for her to be gone, so we don't think we'll let her go. We will keep her in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Samaritan: A Clinic for the Homeless, 41 Catherine St., Dayton, OH 45402.
